Description:
Johnny Cash was one of the most imposing and influential figures in country music history. His distinctive voice which neither sounded Nashville or Rock'n'Roll was to score him over 100 hit singles in the USA and made him into one of Country's biggest stars of the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
The legendary Sun Studios was the birthplace of Cash's career with his first single being released in 1955, his last release was 45 years later in 2000. Cash passed away in 2003 just four months after his wife and fellow songwrite June Carter died. This early recording of Johnny Cash shows his raw talent and earthy appeal. Look out for a rare display of humour with his parody of Elvis Presley on "Heartbreak Hotel".
